Cooking: Pork Roast

This cold weather is bringing out my need to use the crock pot!

I love using the crock pot because I can put food in early in the morning and come home to a great smelling apartment and supper ready to be eaten! This pork roast recipe is easy, I pretty much just stick things in the crock pot and hope for the best!

I can't remember the size of my crock pot, but it's big. I could fit a good 3 pound bird in there with some potatoes.

Pork Roast
7 hours and 30 minutes

1 1.5 or 2 pound roast. (I'm only feeding two people and Marc doesn't eat leftover pork)
1 medium onion, sliced
5 whole cloves of garlic
5-6 sliced up cloves of garlic (we like garlic, so use as much or as little as you like)
2 packages of your favorite sauce (I used two because each package I used only made 1 cup of sauce and I needed more. 2 cups of sauce was more than enough though)
Sprinkle of your choice in spices, I used: Savory, Pepper, Montreal Steak Spice
1 tablespoon olive oil
8 small carrots sliced in half, or any way you like
4-5 potatoes cut up in quarters
1 pack mushrooms sliced

Follow the directions for one of the sauce packages and mix it up in the crock pot. I then spread the sliced onions in the pot and put the pork roast on top. I make little slits in the roast and put in the sliced garlic.

I put the tablespoon of olive oil on top of the roast and sprinkle on the spices and sprinkle the whole garlic cloves around and on top of the roast. I leave my roast in the fridge for the night but you can stick the roast on right away if you like.

In the morning I put the roast on for 7 hours and 30 minutes. Half way through I put the carrots, potatoes and the mushrooms in along with the other package of sauce. I make sure the vegetables are well covered in the sauce and leave it to cook for the rest of the time.

The meat will be nice and tender. It falls apart when you cut it, yummy!

  2. You really should. Corey got us this one when I forgot to pack my old one when we moved :P. You can make a lot of things in crock pots and this winter I hope to try out some desserts in it.
